2 ?'s re: 70

1) On the left side of the cast instrument panel where it's parallel with hood, there are 4 holes. What were they for? 2) Anyone know of an hour meter that would work with a 70? Doesn't have to be stock or pretty, just work reliably under tractor conditions. I'm using 12V negative ground. Thanks!!

Those two holes are where the optional travel hazard lamp that mounted on a swing out arm would attach. If you look at the cover photo of the 70 Diesel owners manual, I remember that they shoed the lamp installed, folded forward against the LH side of the hood.

The standard speed meter for the gas engine mounted on a bracket held in place by the governor LH cover bolts. It is pictured in parts catalog. It was driven by a special governor shaft that exited out of the center of the LH cover.

Any "Hobbs" 12 volt meter for negative ground should work fine if all you want is an electric clock.

I had a Hobbs 12v hour meter mounted right in the origonal hour meter bracket on a 60. I had to enlarge the hole slightly with a file.
