Part number 40 is the orfice screen I was referring to . It controls the regulating piston that puts system on and off demand. If plugged system will stay on high pressure and get hot. Number one is the main suction screen which needs to be clean for good operation but won't cause system to overheat.

thanks pete thats what i thought you were talking about or 55......inside the box .. also do you think i could make that gasket that goes under that cover or is it to much....money is so tight......trying to get back in garden......thanks to all yall......dewy

pete i see it now under the paint...pipe thread...on the outside...thanks.....now what to use to get it out ,,quarter in. ratchet ,,slipped,started to round out hole so i stopped...for support..........thanks dewy

If you can get at it, I would grind down a punch or chisel to tightly fit the square and drive it in. Then with a pipe wrench or whatever, try to turn it out while tapping on the end of punch. I don't like to heat that kind of stuff that close to gas tanks etc. That gasket would be a bear to make as it has lots of holes and passages if I am remembering right.

thanks pete i will try in morning. the block is off tractor now...thats how i found that plug...i thought it was under the cover...and was just looking at cover and finially seen it under the paint...little scared its tight...if problem and needed heat how would you heat ....plumbing torch or oxy,,ace.....thanks again......dewy

Get a piece of key stock the right size, drive it in, and use the right size open end wrench.

It won't need heat. It's been soaking in oil for decades, and it is a tapered pipe thread.
