2000 Instrument Cluster

Going to replace the cluster on a 2000. The original rubber plug with a brass nut are long gone and no longer available.
Anyone have a suitable replacement for them?

I read this yesterday but had to ponder
it overnight to get your meaning.
I think? you are referring to a 3
cylinder 2000 and I think? you are
referring to the rubber GASKET with
brass INSERTS?
If so you have old style tin.
New style - (1968?) did not use a
gasket. The cutouts in the corner were
smaller and they used a small clip and
sheet metal screw (not machine screw).
I don't know the technical term for
those clips but have found a useable
replacement in those boxes of misc
hardware at the hardware store.
I had one tractor I parted out that
someone had used JB Weld to glue small
pieces of sheet metal in the corners on
the underside of the tach opening and
then used a sheet metal screw.
It worked fine.

It's a 3 cylinder diesel.
Yes, it has a rubber gasket around the bezel of the cluster.
In each of the corners there is a square hole that held a square rubber block with a brass nut imbedded in it.
3 of them are completely gone, the fourth had just enough of it left for me to see what it was.
I'm guessing their thinking was to isolate the cluster from vibration.
I don't have access to things I think might work (I'm in the boondocks) so the only thought I have is using plastic anchors like you would use when putting screws in sheetrock. Don't know what effect that would have on the cluster though.
If more info is needed I'll move the cluster and take a pic. Right now I'm trying to get access to the light switch.

OK, just looked a little closer, and it looks just like your picture.
The old gasket isn't like the new one. The old is on both sides of the sheet metal where as the new just sits on top of the metal.
Maybe my little hardware store has something like your picture,

The proper name for those little widgets is "sheet metal screw clips". They come in different shapes and accept different sizes of sheet metal screws. Here's a pic of a typical one.

I think he might find the screw cut outs
in his cowel are a little different than
the ones in my photo.
Iirc they are larger on the tractors
that originally came with the gasket.

Found some in town. Bought 4 and deer corn all in one stop.

I ran in the same trouble. I came across a edge molding off a circular saw blade . It went on my 3000 cluster hole just real good , cut it to length, and stuck my cluster in and used some not to long sheet metal screws to hold it in. works great.
