2020 live PTO lever

I've got a 2020 and the crooked little lever between the gear shifters, as I understand it is supposed to turn the PTO on and off. Mine doesn't do anything. It just flops down on the fiberglass cover like its not attached to anything. My PTO works, turns on and off with the other lever down by my left ankle. Do any of you guys know what the problem might be?

You are probably going to want to find an operator's manual for the tractor, they are all over the internet and on Ebay.

I have a 2020 also and it doesn't have a lever between the gear shifters, my pto is controled by a lever near the left foot - forward lever mid pto, back lever rear pto. I looked in my Operators Manual and I didn't see the lever you are talking about, maybe I am missing something.

I've got the technical service manual. That lever is supposed to actuate a valve on models with live PTO. One way puts pressure on the clutch, the other diverts it to a brake. I'll eventually take the top off and have a look, but I thought maybe someone had been there, done that already.

Well, I can turn it off with the other lever, but your right the top lever won't stop it. The lever literally just flops around like its not attached to anything.

Sounds like the control fork got unhooked under the cover? Just pull it off and look; threre isn't much to it. That lever you're using unhooks the gear-drive to the PTO, while that lever on top is for the hydraulic clutch pack to the PTO. Not all 2020s have it, just depends on how it was ordered. Could come with ground driven PTO, dual-clutch PTO, or hydraulic Independent PTO. Also available with a hydraulic reverser or hi-low.

JDemaris is correct as I've seen the lever removed and not installed back correctly. As he stated your tractor has the hyd independent pto option.

So, most likely the little lever #9 isn't in the right place under the cover, or its broken.

Thanks guys, I just got this tractor and don't know the history.

44 Diesel tech is correct as per pc 971 key 23 part# T30770 is the part that ind pto handle attaches to.

BTW can you tell me how to post parts photo from JDparts.com to this forum?

OK. I guess it will make more sense to me when I get it opened up.

Tx Jim, To post the images, I right click the image on jdparts site, and save it to my computer. The file will be saved as a .gif file. Apparently ytmag, doesn't accept .gif files so I open the file up in Microsoft paint and do a save as and select .JPG as the file type. Then I just upload that file using the "Advanced Posting Tools", Upload Photo link under the "Add Reply" box.

I saved image on my computer but I can't see how to change to jpg as the file type. I only see gif image or ALL files as option. Thanks,Jim

You need to open the gif file that you downloaded in a program that will allow you to change the file type. I use Microsoft Paint. You open the file as a Gif, but then do a "Save As" and select Jpeg as the file type.
