2090 hydraulic issue

I have had my 2090 for 18 years and have never been able to get to the bottom of a hydraulic issue. When the tractor leans to the right and I hit a bump the hydraulic pump sucks air. If I run the oil level 1" high on the dipstick it helps, but just takes a big bump. Last time I had the transmission all apart I looked at the oil suction to the charge pump, and it looked to me like that is all well below the oil level. If it was a leak after the charge pump leaning to one side, or bumps should not effect it. I try to keep the oil level high enough as not to damage the pump, but it is a PITA because the brake cylinders always have air in them. I have seen several 90, and 94 series tractors that have the transmission dipstick twisted about 15 turns. Is that to fix this problem? Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix?

Are you checking the oil w/ the engine off? If so,start the engine & with the engine idling, check the oil and see if it doesn't register low. We use our 2094 to "Bush-Hog" and it often requires traveling on steep slopes, which caused oil suction issues. I simply overfilled the tranny enough until I had no more problems.

Darrel I do not have a answer for the tractors problem, but as John mentioned why not give some more oil a try. Back in the 70's Case sent out a service bulletin and dipsticks to install in certain 12-1370's. Seems as though because of a casting change they needed more oil to keep the pinion shaft lubed properly. We have to add about 5 gal. more to those tractors and certain IH owners overfill some of the 66-86 series tractors to prevent air entering the hyd's. They would add 5 gal also. So what the heck, give it a try, I am not concerned at all that the extra oil will cause problems, Rod.
