2096 3pt stuck in position

Was using the 2096 with a heavy mounted 3pt load (Dyna-Drive) last week and when I went to lift it at the end of the field it started to come up and then just kind of dropped down- but did not drop all the way to release the pressure from the pins, I had to lift up the implement to unhook it. When it was still hooked up when I tried to lift up, it would try to raise it a little and pull the motor down some but not raise more than an inch or two- never pick the weight off the ground.
I tried tapping on the load / height sensing tube right next to the cable / control arm underneath the differential because I remembered that seemed to make the 3pt work on an older 2090 we had- something about the piston inside side being worn and getting stuck in there, this did not seem to do any thing with this 2096 though and since it seems to try to lift some I am thinking something actually may be broken.

The other functions on the tractor still seem to work OK although I just drove it back to the yard and have not used it beyond that. I am not seeing anything leaking and the control cable seems to work like it should underneath. When unhooked I raised the 3pt up all the way and now it will not go down.

Does any one have an idea what the problem might be? Still hoping for a simple fix - hopefully the casting is not broken.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a couple neighbors that used 2290, and 2294's on heavy ridge till planters and cultivators. Both of them wore the cup on the rock shaft arm that the piston pushes on, and the donkey dick pushed right through the arm. My 2090 was well on the way to do the same thing when I was in there to replace the cyl seals. Mine was worn so bad the donkey dick was hitting the arm in the raised position, and the donkey dick was bent. You will have to pull the rear housing to tell if this is your problem.

Not sure whats wrong but you could remove the tube shape cover from the front of the 3pt valve, engine not running have someone operate the lever back and forth and the spool and spring in valve should move accordingly. If it does not check for a linkage problem in the control box. If it does then slowly loosen the 4 bolts securing the little cover on the side of the 3pt valve. Engine not running and no load on hitch. by letting oil pressure drain from the valve the hitch should now leak down, if it does not, drain trans oil and remove PTO housing so you can inspect the mechanical leakage holding up the arms. Rod.

Thank you both for the suggestions, hopefully I will have some time now that most of the planting is done to look into the problem and let you know how I make out.

After not finding any problems in the linkages that operate the 3pt. I hooked the tractor to a disk (ram ) and it would try to pick it up just slightly and the action was very slow- so I am thinking the problem is with the main hyd. system. The power steering seems to work normal for what its worth- not sure if its run from the same pump. I will have to do some more checking.
