2096 power shift problems

I ve got a 2096 with a 12 speed power shift, out of the blue now when either the inching pedal or the power shift is in reverse (both of which engage the c4 solenoid) I get a clear strain on the hydraulics and a hammering sound like the hydraulics are dead heading. Any thoughts on what may be giving me these symptoms, I ve shifted through all the gears and the solenoids are sequencing as they should.

I can't tell you a thing about the power shift. I would though start with a new filter and if not done real recently an oil change with it. Just the cheap stuff first work up in cost and possibilities.

The PS transmission in your tractor has more roots in
the J. I. Case transmission design than that of an IH. I
would suggest posting in the Case forum instead. Not
sure how many are over there that are familiar with the
later solenoid shifted transmission. A couple of the
guys that were real knowledgeable on Case PS
transmissions are no longer posting on YT. If you do
not get an answer there and you have access to
Facebook, there is a group there that has a lot of
knowledge on the old Cases. I know at least one of the
posters that really knows Cases moved from here over
to there.

It has ZERO roots in IH, really. This model was introduced in 1984 in Case white. The only thing IH on the tractor is the red paint.

With out the CAS 12/24 trans diagnostic tool trouble shooting is impossible. Bad circuit board, selector switch, wiring issue etc. U need to rent a CAS 12/24 tool from a dealer or shop to avoid replacing parts. My guess would be the circuit board or wires rubbed @ solenoid under control valve cover.
