2096 powershift/clutch

2096 has a problem that comes and goes.
If it takes off after start up, every thing operates fine the whole time it is running.

Once in a while, after start up the cluth/power shift pump won't surge and pressure up and nothing happens-it will not move, shut it off and sometimes it will work sometimes not.

Is this an electical contact issue, maybe the circuit board under the dash?

For a place to start....Look at how many micro switches are above & below the clutch pedal. Later 94 series & I'm willing to bet 96 series had 3. 2 are PS swap switches & the 3rd at the bottom would be like a PS neutral safety start, meaning the electrical end needs to recognize engine oil pressure present before it will engage. Kind of involved, but you can call if you would like some help. 715-505-8786 Eric

Agri-king I find your analysis interesting for this problem.

Could it be contamination/crud in the oil that is causing the problem with this tractor?

Thanks for the reply, I will call when I have some more time next week.

The filters and hy-tran are new. Also replaced the plastic screen on the other side because there was a small hole in it. Did not seem like a lot of shavings or trash in the oil to me.

Brokengun,
The electric shifted powershift is a whole other bear, instead of pilot spools and retard valves they use pressure switches and solenoids and a selector switch and relay board to select the powershift range, the clutch sequence is the same but with electric control.

After the basic stuff, oil level, etc, the first place I go is those reed switches on the clutch pedal. I would say 75% of the problens I have encountered were switch related and are likely to occour after the tractors sit for an extended period as over winter, often the reed pivot will get tight and the reed will move hard and the microswitch takes hardly any effort to engage and it has very little force to return it.

His response was exactly what I would have said.
