2240 hi-lo bogs engine in low

I've been having issues with what I thought was dragging brakes on an early 2240 (tractor would come to a fast stop when clutch was pushed
in).

Rebuilt brakes (they were very worn). Now tractor coasts out well (in hi), and brakes work as they should... But now, if the hi-low is in low, the
tractor nearly stalls the engine, and it quickly comes to a halt when the clutch is pushed in.

No other symptoms are present. No noises. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Steve

Sounds as if when control lever is in low range both high & low range clutch packs are receiving hyd pressure. I suggest to check pressure under cowling that gear shift levers protrude through.Pressure should be in the 155-165 psi range.
