2240 ?

how good are these little 2240 tractors, I'm looking at one with 2900 hours starts and runs perfect, had diesel pump rebuilt because of a leak and has a brand new diesel tank put on. are there any weak points that I need to look for? what is a good price for this tractor, still has original paint too with factory roll bar and 6ft. John Deere bushhog

There was a parts break mid way through the 40 series . When US production was moved to Mannheim .
Check the coolant corrosion inhibitor . Check the transmission filter and the transmission screen . As in with any system with wet clutches or wet brakes . If some booger poured in the incorrect oil . Damage to the seals and friction materials can occur .
High low and/or independent PTO ?

it's a 79 model 310360 i'll check on the pto, it was completely service at local JD dealer so correct oil and anti freeze was used

We have one. It’s the early version. Independent PTO. And 2 speed power shift. Low/horizontal exhaust.
Best tractor for mowing around trees and hill sides. Really like the strong power steering, diff lock, foot throttle, strong brakes.

I have seen prices all over the map for these things. Much of it comes down to condition.

Mid 40 series . Any production that was in Dubuque was moved to Mannheim to join existing production there .

IIRC JD utility tractor changeover from being built in Dubuque to Mannheim factory began with the 30 series. Some 2030's were built in both factories. I think all 2240 were built in Mannheim factory.
