Looking to sell a 227 cornpicker with mounting for a JD 60. In good working condition, has been in dry storage for approx 40 years. Need the space and want to advertise locally but need some ideas on pricing.

Last one I saw sell at a farm auction was a beautiful 237 still sitting in the corner of the shed on a cement floor. It went for $5.

They are starting to come up in value. You need to make sure you have all the parts and brackets. If the picker is nice I would ask $1000 and hope to end up with $600-750. It will take some time to get but good pickers are getting hard to find and events like Half Century of Progress are making them more sought after. Craigslist is a good place to advertise, also Green Magazine and a photo Ad here on this sight would help. Buy a cheap 60 or 620 and put them together and it would be lots easier to sell. I have the 237 that I used in the shed all oiled up and was offered a $1000 for it a few years ago. Tom

I had one that was complete and operable and mounted on a JD 70 diesel. Tractor was useless for anything else with the mounted picker. I tried to sell it for two years w/o success. Finally removed it to free up the tractor. After sitting for another year I did the unthinkable. Called the local scrap dealer and he cut it up and hauled it away. The irony is I paid a premium to get it hauled home after buying it in sw Minnesota because it was 104 inches wide and most haulers did not want to deal with it.
