2290 vs 2090

Have a 2290 that threw a rod out the side of the block, looking for some replacemnt engines and found a 2090, it also has the same 504 engine, what was the difference between the too? different injectors, fuel pump?
Thanks

There is a shop around here that welds blocks that have rods go through them . You could probably get it welded up ,and rebuild the whole darn thing . Might be cheaper in the long run , as you would have a new engine . You could swap engines , and have the new one throw a rod too.

Several local guys with 2090's had turbos added with no bad effects. I can't see why that engine won't work.

With pistons being different, would that have any affect if injection pump and injectors, and turbo were swapped from 2290 on the the 2090 engine? Thanks for Infomation!

Check the oil spray holes on the rods since it was turbo'd from the start, they might be different(for cooling bottom of pistons). Can any one answer this without looking it up.
