230 baler repair

Have any of you with a 200, 220, or 230 baler had to disassemble your machine to repair the feeder arm mount? Three of the four
brackets were cracked through and had to be welded. I wondered if this was a known issue on these balers, and only a few days ago
another 230 appeared for sale where the owner didn't catch the problem in time and it made a mess of things. The truss head screws
through the sheet metal were not fun to remove after 50 years of service, but after being repaired the machine is running fine.

I've run mine for years with nary a problem. I took the lid off when I got it inspect and clean it out, as with any baler, an awesome place to nest and eventually cause a rust out. I'm looking for a pto clutch safety cover as in my photo. Thanks Larry

Larry, your baler looks to be in great condition. I cannot imagine what motivates a man to discard that slip clutch guard, but the parts 230 I bought is also missing it.

John, I have to agree it may be my least favorite feature of the baler. This is speculation, but perhaps the Case baler designers of the day were going after a simple and light design overall for the 200 series. I have read the Case 200-230 are some of the lightest small square units. Maybe this was as a departure from the older series of Case balers, which however excellent they were or were not, seemed bigger, heavier, and more complex. I'd someday like to run a 133 to compare it to the performance of the 230.
