234 international mounted corn

mounted international model 234 corn picker on a 706 pto is to close wont fit .How to fix I have a 540 pto Do I need to 1000 pto

Is the 234 from a 706 initially?

I never had an IH mounted picker, but I had a few Olivers. I remember one time when I put one on, the PTO wasn't the right length. On those, the axle brackets had an offset and I had them reversed. Any chance that's what's wrong?

The PTO wouldn't make much of a difference, as they both stick out just as far. Sounds like it may have been on a smaller tractor. You'll have to hunt down the brackets or fab some up to mount it on a 706.

Do you have the correct subframe? Have you checked the parts books and manuals to make sure it didn't need a different set of PTO parts? Was the entire picker off of a 706?
