my 2390 case lost hyd pressure while bailing corn stalks. i changed hyd oil and filers then hyd worked for about thirty minutes then stared loseing them again. it sounnds like pump is cavitateing power steering gets slow and pump whines . dose any body have a anser for this?

Sounds like the intake screen is plugged. A real stinker to get to. Usually the brake linings disintigrate & plug the screen. The last screen we cleaned was when we had the axle housings off replacing the brakes. Can't be acessed from the outside. Real slick engineering.

I agree w/ John, brakes are probably coming apart, you can clean the screen from the back, remove PTO housing raise the front of tractor, i use a pump up sprayer w/parts cleaner an flush it out, but unless you change brake disc's expect to do it again.

I think the other gents are right on the sump screen issue. The bigger issue to me is why! My mind goes back to the gentleman with,I believe, a 1370 who used a off brand oil and had to replace every lined disc in the whole transmission until he got his unit squared away. A very big price simply because one thinks that Hy Tran Ultra is expensive. Maybe it has had poor oil used at sometime in it's life. That is just an idea I'm throwing out there but if indeed the linings are deterioriating without abusive excess use, I'd wanna know why. If there is no apparent reason for the lining shedding material I would at least suspect an oil problem. It's kinda like the old Fram ad, "you can pay me now, or pay me later". Maybe I am off base here but feel it is something to consider. mEl

You dont say what kind of baler you are using b ut if you have had your remote lever tied back to charge the baler you have ruined your pump. Been there done that. 308 874 4562

EC,
What type of tractor did you wipe a pump on by tying the lever back? The 2390 uses a closed center variable pressure/ variable flow type system which is designed to be used in loaded situations, when the flow and pressure is reached that the implement desires the output of the pump simply cuts back the output to the amount required to do the task. The tractor uses a low pressure system for powershift and pto application and the main hydraulic system senses the flow requirements of the implement.
