24 T baler problem

Right side knotter ties about every two bales and then wont tie for about every 6-8 bales.Sometimes the twine will break every 10-12 bales and have to re-thread the needle, and then the thing will tie about every two bales and go through the same routine. Have changed the needle twice, adjusted the needle according to the book. Timed the baler according to the book. Changed out knotter on the right side and it does the same thing. The left side never misses a beat. Any suggestions? Thanks

Check your wiper arm . make shure its contacting the billhook as it comes across . also check the little knife and make shure its sharp. . another thing check your twine holder acording to the book .

I have two 24t balers. You need a manual. Get a section of twine and follow the trouble shooting section in the manual It will tell you where th problem is. I just went thru a baler that wasn't tieing at all. Now it never misses a tie. You need a feeler gage to do it right.

If you don't have a manual, post the knot miss description here and we can help you.

I have the manual and set everything up according to it. The wiper arm sweeps past the bill hook. Is the bill hook supposed to be close to the wiper arm? The wiper arm has a little play in it. Does it need to be shimmed? I don't remember reading about using a feeler gauge. I put new knife blades on last fall. The bill hook will produce a tie on both ends of the string at times but not always tie it together. Thanks

You may have already done this, but...........the EASIEST way I found to correct a similar problem is to turn the flywheel by hand, trip the knotter and OBSERVE what's happening. There's obviously something different between the 2 knotters.

The wiper arm should be almost tight against bill hook. Unbolt the knotter, while lifting it up watch/ feel for wiper arm against billhook. Should rub against just slightly.
