2400A dipstick

I'm looking for a dipstick for an international D179 engine. Can someone point me in a direction to find one? It's a new tractor to me and the only one I've found is on Ebay for 200 bucks.

Were you searching by part number (3136242R2)?

Quite a few sources show up, one caught my eye, F.P. Smith, out in California, (707) 312-7014.

Might be worth a call?

Ther only I can find that looks like the picture in the manual was on Ebay. It's $200... I tried your suggestion but no luck.

So you are saying Smith is sold out?

GOOGLING the part number brings up lots of other places to call.

I was lucky, recently I needed a (similar) dipstick for a "544" gas, checked with a dealership, none available, even locator didn't turn up any.

A GOOGLE search turned up quite a few, new and used.

After a number of phone calls I DID find a new one at a CIH dealer in Kentucky and got it delivered for some $50.

Keep looking, I'll bet you'll find what you need, as well, for a more palatable price.

First link is where the part number wore out gave you
came from, the CNHI D-179 engine diagram. The
second link is the place in CA he said had one, looks
like they may have 3. Another site that quotes prices
said Smiths price was $65. This is the internet, take all
with a grain of salt. Is this where you checked with no luck?

My phone didn't bring up the link. The number I called said truck parts. My computer had the links and I've asked for a quote. Got my fingers crossed. Thanks guys
