2440 injection pump timing

IIRC all the later model tractors inj pump time at TDC. There's a timing pin (parts key #8) & hole in flywheel housing.

As long as you are using the timing marks that are etched on to the injection pump - you set the engine at TDC. The actual marks on the pump are not set to TDC but that doesn't matter. As long as you have the marks and use them, you are fine. If the marks are gone - then you need to air-time the engine. I'd be more concerned about what the timing is when the engine is running. It changes engine timing by 14 degrees when working correctly.
