2470 504 pushing out coolant

I dug a 2470 out of the weeds That had been sitting for years. supposedly had power shift issues so they parked it. Got it for $500 and drove it about 5 miles to my shop. planning on swapping the engine into a 930. It runs great but is pushing coolant out the overflow on the radiator. Not overheating at all. I put my block tester on it and it’s making bubbles but the fluid in the tester didn’t turn green so it doesn’t appear to be getting combustion gasses in the system. Trying to figure out what else could be going on. Though maybe a cracked intercooler allowing boost in but it seems like it would be weeping coolant into the intake as well. Looking for any insight on possible problems. like To get it pinpointed before I pull the engine out so I’ll know what to fix.

bubbles in Tester when engine is up to temp and idling. No color change in fluid. After shut down it gurgled, bubbled and puked into the tester causing it to overflow. Could there just be air trapped in the system? Thinking I’ll look at the thermostats and make sure they have the vent hole in them next

I can’t answer why it isn’t changing the color of the fluid. You are talking about the possibility of a failed intercooler. I don’t know how much pressure the turbo pushes at idle, I don’t think it is very much. To be sure I would disconnect the compressor from the intake, then idle it and see if it pushed pressure in the radiator. Then if it does it almost has to be compression. You may be able to figure out which head it is by pulling the water manifold and removing the water pump belt, fill it up to the water manifold port level and start it and look for the bubbles in the ports.

I was going to unhook charge pipe but got thinking if the intercooler was failed enough to leak with almost no boost pressure it would surely leak water back into the intake when not running. Has to have either a bad head gasket or cracked liner. ill o what you suggested with the water manifold before I pull it out of the tractor. Head gaskets are relatively cheap so I'll probably plan on doing them while its out. just hope I don't find a bad head.
