2510 W/48 loader

We have a 2510 and a 48 loader. The loader came with the independent Gresen valve and a hydraulic filter cover with coupler. The manuals seem to give conflicting info about set-up. We DO NOT want to hook up to the tractor remote. Would like to have instructions regarding the best way to plumb into the tractor system. The loader came with the smaller bracket for attaching to the mast (not the triangular one). Step by step instructions with pics would be GREATLY appreciated.

Right in front of your brake pedals is an elbow fitting. You need to replace that with a tee fitting and that is your pressure for your valve. The return goes to your hyd filter. If your 2510 has never had an updated eight piston hyd pump installed you may find yourself very disappointed with your hyd. performance.

The performance will be no worse direct pipe versus going remotes, and probably better.

You will want a closed center control valve, will NOT operate without one correctly.

Thanks. Not sure what tractor it came off of but I will find out. Seems to me logically that this method would work fine. Is the filter cover return the restriction?

Salesman wasn't sure if 3010 or 4010 but at least we're in the same series. Won't know which pump we have till I crawl underneath it Sunday.

It's not really a restriction issue. The transmission pump has less gpm than the front pump. Operation of high flow loads can deplete the reserve supply to the front pump which causes cavitation.
The ported filter cover returns loader oil into the trans pump side of the transmission filter.
Also of particular benefit to Mannheim and Dubuque tractors.

(quoted from post at 16:52:49 02/07/14) Thanks for the pics. In the 2nd pic, is the rearmost fitting the hose that would return to the filter cover?

Yes. I personally like returning oil by way of rockshaft oil return line as it makes changing hyd filter easier with no hose attached to filter cap.

Jim : [not to confuse Dave in installing hyd. tees] Part# AK40464 is # for tee in rockshaft return line.. JD part# for pressure tee is AN140263 or AN140264 .. photos are labeled backward...

I have an operators manual in like new condition for that loader. Email me if you're interested. Postage plus cheap. I'll never use them. It says 148, 158, and 168 Farm Loaders on the cover.
Also have manuals for other JD loaders if anyone is interested.

Jim - I doctored your photos, using the part numbers that Long Green Line Man specified above. Check them out - if they are correct, use the photos as you see fit. I may have numbers reversed, or the arrow pointing to the wrong part. I can change the numbers for you if they're wrong. I've never been around new generation Deeres, so I'm ignorant about what I'm looking at.

I enjoy your knowledge, and willingness to help others.

A little confusing but 2510 is not in same series as 3010/4010. 2510 did not come out til '66. 3020/4020 came out in '64.
