Anybody know original alt type for 2600? My has a one wire setup with what looks like a volt reg mounted to back of alt with about three more wires going to various terminals in alt itself. IT manual shows about four wires going to alt.

Prob. a Motorola with an external regulator.
That's what was on my 1973 7000. I switched it out for a delco 10si and just used the wire that went to the dash light on the exiter circuit.
Lined up pretty easy.
Good luck!

The original was most likely an externally regulated Motorolla. Good alt until it fails... and when you price one, or even a repair kit for one you will soon understand why it has a 1 wire alt.

Worked out fine. Once you go thru it step by step, it becomes obvious.
