So....2605 MFWD....heavy enough for a loader tractor to replace an old 1020 Deere 2 wheel drive or not? I work the crap out of a loader tractor that size in the feedlot and bunker silo. I need one small in stature to get in and out of some low, tight spaces.
It says on tractordata that they have dry drum brakes. Has that been a problem?
How about the hydraulics?

If you are talking the late model utility type tractor you will be sorely disappointed in my opinion. Neighbor bought one to push snow and mow ect. I ran it once or twice, it is a 3 cylinder made in india diesel. He has a loader with joystick and when you engage the hydraulics you can hear the load on the motor. But I am used to a 180 MF diesel to do my chore work, and I would rather have those old 180's.

I've been told that a 245 wasn't really the right tractor for the job,to go up to a 255. Trouble is,I'm thinking more and more that I'd like FWD this time around. Kinda hard to find an older one equiped that way. REALLY don't want to go with another deere.

Got to looking on tractor house. The tractor i ran is a 2615. If you are looking at a 2650 it would be like a 400 series like the 471 MF. Those appear to be a little more substantial tractor. I think the 2650's are perkins powered.

If budget allows, get a 2600HD series. They are the direct replacement for the 500 series. You won't be disappointed with them.

You might hate Deere but look at a 5045E or 5055E those are FWA, and comparable to the 2605/2515/2625 series.

I thought the 2605 was 2wd and dry brakes and no diff lock?

2615 could have fwa and had wet brakes.
