2610 Transmission noise

I have a 2610 with a power shift transmission that is making a loud rattling noise. This past fall I had a problem with a stripped coupler and shaft on the power shift pump. Unfortunately they do not make these parts any longer so I had to buy a used pump. I had to take the transmission apart to replace the front/spacer plate gasket. My buddy and I took pictures of everything as we took it apart and we have a manual, at least one that is suppose to be close to the 2610. We get the transmission back together and bolted back on feeling like we got it all back correctly. (The tractor is at my buddies house 2 hrs away from me.) Later he and a neighbor who had been helping us put all the other parts back on and he sends a video of him driving the tractor around his yard. Everything is good. He parks it and it sets until I go to use it to cut grass this summer. Now there is a rattling noise coming from the transmission. Yesterday I spoke to a tractor mechanic in that area and he said he had another 2610 come in his shop 6 months ago making the same noise. They tore it down and checked all the gears and bearings and could not find what was causing the noise. That tractor owner just decided to buy another tractor. I would rather not have to do that.
Any suggestions? Could it be the used pump? But it does sound like gears rattling. Should I just run it and hope it quits?

You might drive it a little in every gear combo to see if there's a difference, both on the ground and with the rears clear. And with the wheels raised use a mechanics stethoscope to try to localize the sound.

I Also have a noise, it has been mentioned before by me..... happens when the clutch is up (not pressed down)..shift stick for the C,1,2,3,4 gears is in neutral (no gear selected)....shift selector to the right is in N.....I still hear as though gears are turning underneath my seat area of the transmission case. Now, "if I press the clutch" all the way down it will stop that noise. One other note, even if I have the shift lever in N,1,2,3 or R ....while the shift stick is in N, I still hear it. Has this something to do with the throw out bearing or clutch plate rubbing on something? I'm thinking it is just barely touching where it engages? Just a thought.

I am being told that my noise could be a bearing or bearings. Which I should have changed while I had it down. I just didn't think about the bearings. I put a clutch kit in it since I had it torn apart but I didn't think about the bearings so now I'm kicking myself. My forgetter works great my memory sucks. I found a mechanic that works on Yanmars so I am going to take it to him. I'm not going to tackle that job again. Your noise may also be a bearing If it is coming from the rear of the tractor.

The throw out bearing should be adjusted to where it is not spinning unless the pedal is pressed down. Typically, if it is the throw out bearing, the noise only happens when the pedal is pressed down (because the bearing is not even spinning when the clutch pedal is up).

Is your clutch out of adjustment, (no pedal clearance)? If the tob is getting noisy you can usually hear it by resting your foot on the pedal and removing the play.

I just read a response to my thread on tractorbynet ...."When the clutch pedal is "not pressed" and the shift stick is in N and the PowerShift is in any selector or RN123, then YES, there is a whirling sound near your feet. This is normal."

well that's a relief, I was thinking I would have do some major work. I was really questioning this because it only shows 127 hrs.

The 2610 was manufactures between 1979 and 1981, making it 35+ years old. 129hrs isn't likely. Likely since refurb, whatever that consisted of.
