I had a rattle and vibration noise coming
from my clutch when the tractor was at
idle. I split the tractor to take care of
an oil leak in the clutch housing so now I
am looking at the clutch and I want to
replace it. I have a 2640 with an
independent pto and a single stage clutch.
I believe the part that is rattling is
called the pto damper which is powered by
the pressure plate and turns whenever the
tractor is running. My question is should
this part have play in it. I can move it
back and forth and turn it slightly in
both directions. Could this be where the
noise is coming from?
