My SIL is running straight Hydraulic fluid in his 2640. I always run Hi-guard in my deere's who's right?
TIA

Define "straight hydraulic fluid"... what does it say on the pail? Who's "specs" does it meet?

Useing fluid that is not correct for "wet" brakes will "kill" a Deere utility for sure,it will let the linings come loose and let the brakes run metal to metal and you won't have a clue of whats going wrong till the hydraulics slow down,,by then it's to late,,nothing will be the same again...

Bob, it just says hydraulic fluid, not hydraulic-transmission fluid The way I see it it's not made for wet cluthes or brakes!
Thanks

That seems odd.

No matter WHAT oil it is, it usually lists what company's "specs" it meets.

I don't know how things are done up in the Great White North, but I don't recall seeing ANY oil buckets down here marked "wet clutch compatible", just various mfr's "spec numbers" that it meets.
