2640 hydraulic filter

Follow up to my earlier post. Need to replace hydraulic filter (probably)and check sump screen.

My IT shop manual doesn"t show where the filter is located. Any hints? Do I need to drain out all the oil for this filter replacement?

I see where the sump plug is with the 1/2" square in the cap.

I assume the lowest plug on bottom of housing is the drain plug.
Thanks

Don't drain. Filter is under RH side of tran. Vertical bowl with 3/4 wrench bolt head in center.
You spill what is in bowl so have tub ready.

First thing to do is hurl that near useless IT manual into the trash and order a real manual from Deere. After you compare the two manuals, you will want to go and cuss out the people who wrote , print and sell IT manuals.

BRAVO!
30 some years ago, while working at an AC dealer, I was tasked with some hyd. and PTO work on a 2010. We had all the I&T manuals. I was stumped. The boss finally got an OEM manual from an independent shop, and wow, it was all so clear!
I don't know if it's still that way, but the JD manuals I have wanted have been affordable because they are fairly model specific. I have backed away from other companies manuals because they want several hundred dollars for a manual that covers a whole series of machines.

Thanks for the replies.

FYI Tx Jim your photos don"t come through or I don"t know how to find them. Same thing a couple days ago in your response.
Thanks,
Lee

Ahh, got it this time.

Saw that underneath but wasn't positive that was the filter.

Bought the 2640 used last year and it works great on my mower conditioner.

Thanks again
Lee
