(quoted from post at 00:16:50 11/22/18) my 2640 used to run hot even with a medium load. New radiator, new water pump, stuck pressure washer in the block while water pump was out and washed a bunch of mud out. Prior owner had apparently tried to stop leaking water pump with stop leak. System clean again with new parts it can be worked hard all day in Florida 95 degree 95% humidity days and set on 190 all day. I had a 444 IH that ran hot even with new radiator and water pump. Knocked block core plugs out and block was caked full of mud. Pulled water pump back off and pressure washed block out with the core plugs out also. Ran at the thermostat setting from then on with no more issues. Years and years plus unknown owner/operators and block may be full of gunk.
Friend of mine has a 2640 [b:dd9dfbda79]he has installed[/b:dd9dfbda79] new radiator [b:dd9dfbda79]water pump[/b:dd9dfbda79],belt ,and thermostat.

In the North we don’t often think of that as 50/50 antifreeze has to be used . Unlike the south where a bucket of ditch water can be a candidate for a cooling system.
I hope by South you're referring to South of the Rio Grande river.

Ay place in the southern US where hard freezes do not occur.
Ash from Mt St Hellen’s sure cooled things down for a while .(quoted from post at 18:47:31 11/23/18)
In '83 in N Central Texas it stayed below freezing 295 consecutive hrs. Freezing some lakes/ponds over a foot deep(thick).
