2640 radiator

As I get my new to me 2640 (late) ready for working, I"m thinking about replacing the radiator. I"ve already blown the large amount of dirt/debris that I could get out of the fins, but it still gets warm after about 1/2 hour of hard loader use. By the time I have the 30 year old radiator rodded, would I be time and money ahead just to replace it?

Looking up prices, I see that one from JD (P/N AR 90945) is $440. From others, I can get it for around $300. Any real reason to pay nearly half again as much for one from the dealer?

I would check with the local radiator shop, they are the best deals in my area..

Check into the radiator because 2640's are known for running hot when worked.The 2440 ran much cooler. Alot of dairy farmers bought 2640's for loader tractors then tried to use them on forage blowers and unless perfectly clean rad. on cool day they would boil over. The 2640 is a very good tractor but cooling was the weakest part.A loader should not work it hard enough to get hot.Like Tim said let a good shop checkout what you have.

A radiator from Deere will be Deere quality. Made by Modine I think. At least the one for my 9500 was. It was cheaper new from Deere than having my old one rebuilt. If you get an aftermarket one be careful.
I'd make sure it's well cleaned out and the problem is internal before replacing it though.
