275 multipower linkage

It seems like the multipower linkage that goes thru the top of trans housing has become disconnected from multipower valve. When you disconnect the linkage it feels like the hook isn't hooked to anything. Looks like I could access the valve if I take the cover off the transmission. Is this correct? If it is, how hard is it to remove the cover? I read the service manual and it makes it sound pretty easy but I'd like real world opinions on this.
Thanks

Hello, don't even think of removing the top cover of the transmission!!!!
The MP valve operating must be accessed through the front of the clutch housing after
the tractor has been split between the engine and gearbox. However' if you remove the plate
under the clutch housing and using a flashlight you might just be able to see what is wrong.
The chances of doing any repair to it are just about nil without splitting the tractor.
At least if you know what is wrong it will soften the pain of splitting it a little.

As David said, DON'T remove the shift cover, the MP shift valve can only be see from the bottom. Repair requires a clutch split. Years ago I had the same thing happen on a 65, the shoulder bolt lever pivots on had broken, leaving tractor stuck in High MP..
