28 Gauge Jammin

Question for the gun guys. Got a Remington 28 Gauge that the bolt is jamming. It is a model 11-48 and the slide or bolt stuck about half way back. I freed it up, but something is catching. It has been sitting for a couple years, but fired fine the first three rounds. I'm about to open this thing up but am open to any suggestions on what to look for.
Thanks,
Heyseed

Just like with any thing that has sat a long time dirt/rust can and will mess them up. I would clean and lube it then try it again and go from there

Happened to my Hi Standard I don't use much. I couldn't work the slide. There was a verrrry slight coating of rust on the angled surfaces where the bolt seats. Just enough to keep the bolt from dropping out. Clean it out and lube it.

Heyseed- to clarify anytime you cycle the action now it hangs up? I'd just tear it down and clean it out. Any Auto5 variant that I've seen with cycling issues generally just needed cleaned. The 11-48 isn't bad to tear down, just take your time and scrub everything down.

The 11-48 Remington is recoil operated. The barrel retracts with the bolt and then jumps back to eject the spent shell, the bolt follows picking up the new shell from the loader. The bolt is held back until the loader comes up by a finger that catches the bottom of the bolt. I would remove the barrel, pull the bolt handle, dump the bolt out the front and completely clean the channels in the receiver that the bolt runs in. With the bolt out you can inspect the rods that contact the spring which forces the bolt closed.

Thanks again for all the answers. I will take it apart and give it a good cleaning tonight. Picked up a fresh can of solvent on my way home.
Cool note, I contacted Remington yesterday about an owners manual and had one in my inbox this morning. Pretty good customer service if you ask me.
