2950 damper and crank

Does anyone know if it matters if I rig a jig and cut a new keyway in the crank to replace a ratched one. Does the keyway where it's at balance the crank with the damper pulley?

I would think if you can cut it 180 degrees from the old one then broach a matching keyway in the new damper.

i would agree that if you put it at 180 degrees and fill the old keyway you should be good. but why take the chance, it is a common crankshaft that can be found. i would repace it myself. crank should be the same as a 329 engine.
