The part number I need is H2601B. 14 tooth drive sprocket.
I am restoring this planter as I go. Should those tension idlers be painted where the chain runs?

Have you thought about changing out the hub and the corresponding sprocket? Are the wheels solid on yours?

lonni, that part number you are giving is not listed in the 290 parts book for that planter. I cannot find where it is used, Ask on the Deere section using these words (where is a part number H 2601 B used). The H 2417 B is also not in planter parts book. You can look all this up on Deeres on line parts book. But those nimbers not being in the parts book is why you are having trouble.

leroy, those part numbers are in the parts book, H2601b, its number 8 on page 6 pf the parts book, also you have the wrong number , you put H2417b, its sopposed to be H2714b

Note that in the 1970 revisions of the "290' parts catalog, "PC117" the wheel hub H2714B is replaced by AH886B and the sprocket you are looking for, H2601B, is replaced by AH844B.

Nothing is mention about having to replace them as a pair.

So that gives you two newer part numbers to search for.

theres two available of part number AH886B from parts depot, nothing on the other part number

The wheels are solid. I would be willing to change hub and sprocket but not sure of the numbers for different ones.
