2N brake adjuster.....

Can these take a little heat to break loose and how much can you put on it? Have had several of these fords but all others had good brakes an didn't need adjusting. Don't want to affect anything else by applying heat, have soaked in kroil oil 2 weeks an it's not gonna cut it loose. TIA

Adjc,Maybe some heat with a propane torch,some tapping with a small hammer more Kroil while hot then let it cool,more taps and try with a good 12" cresant moving it back and forth.Be careful so as not to break it off or you could really have problems getting the axle and drum removed from the backing plate.

Thanks for the info. Was thinking the propane torch would be sufficient. Didn't want to use blue eyes, thinking that may be too much heat. Looks like a Saturday mission.... 8)

I put the starwheel in a vice with slight pressure and rotate the threaded end with a large flat screwdriver turned sideways. Usually works well accompanied with spray. Once apart I use white grease on the threads.

I have a few brake assemblies in the "Keep" scrap pile if you need parts or ebay usually has brake assemblies really cheap . Shipping is the biggest cost so the closer the better . I find that rusty parts like that can be made to work again but usually don't work smoothly .

As I remember ??? it looked like it was riveted to the backing plate ??? so I did not take the adjuster apart to see how it works but I did think it was a neat design and very simple to use . On the 8n I usually get half a dozen clicks on the star wheel before I realize I am going the wrong way

Thx for the offer.....I'll definitely keep that in mind. Gonna tie into this tomorrow and see what happens. Normally my mechanical skills are fairly good but rust is another issue, especially after many decades of sitting around with little to no maintenance. Can be challenging at times. 8)

2108 drives 2041(wedge) the wedge pushes (drives) 2049 out.
