Old unused OEM resistor was measuring more like 15,000 ^ (ohms), so I am sure it is shot.
"Get a "12v" coil & a new ballast resistor.....and measure the new coil before you hook it up! You probably will need more resistance in the circuit."
Not far from my home, a guy sells antique Ford car parts and had a listing for a square can coil, 12 v, including resistor for $27. Now thats probably his cost or maybe he doesn't have updated prices but I ordered one anyway. Should be here tomorrow. He didn't know if it was a ballast resistor or a ceramic so time will tell.
