2N new breakerplate problem

I just installed a new breakerplate in the distributor of my 2N. The old one had shorted out at the terminal where the coil touches and the condenser attaches.
I was disappointed that I had to use my old breaker point screws and had to file material off 2 rivets on the bottom of the plate. The distributor shaft wouldn't turn because the mechanical advance weights hit them.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Everything works well now, and the tractor runs great, but a new part that has to be fixed before I can use it uriks me.

ep & probably aluminum instead of steel, too. The reason most of us repair our old parts. Replace insulator & all will be well.
