I just put a bunch of work into my 2n i converted it to 12 volt installed electronic ignition new radiator, plugs ,wires rebuilt carb all new metal lines and installed an exhaust stack and head gasket all compression is good and for some reason it idles great but i run it wide open it puffs blue smoke and smells rich and breaks up ive adjusted carb not much difference i havent test drove it yet got too late mayb itll even out under a load other than that im out of ideas any help would be great thank you

blue smoke is oil.. black smoke is rich.

my guess is you have stuck or worn or broke oil control rings.. but good compression rings. thus it is possible to pump some oil and have good compression.

add some seafoam to oil and gas.. or alternately, pull plugs and soak cy;s in atf for a day and then rotate engine over half a turn by hand and add more atf. then run her over with plugs out ( always ) and expell the oil.. reinstall plugs and run her with a lil of the atf fluid in the oil and gas ( seafoam works too ).. will smoke like a fogger when she first starts. if it clears up after that the rings were gummed up.. if not.. one or more is pumping. can read plugs to see which one. in the end.. a lil puf of smoke is not the end of the world. besides.. think of it as a lil extra top cyl lube. rings and or valves probably happy :)

also theres still quite a bit of water in the oil from the bad head gasket ive got to change it again would that possibly be a factor with the smoking?

steam maybee...

get that colant out of the oil asap though.. it will eat bearings for lunch... fast..

Have you checked your intake, oil bath filters are sensitive to cold,as the oil gets real thick.Might be good to clean, and put 10 w 30 or something like that.---lha
