2n Starting Problems again

Hello. Just had my 2n running for about 2 hours of bush hogging. Seemed to be running very hot so I shut it down and waited an hour or 2 to check coolant level. Added some coolant and then went to start it with no luck. Just got done checking spark and there is none.

Distributor and Coil are new 6V as are plug wires and plugs. Plugs looked clean and not fouled.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

If it got hot and particularly if it boiled over, look for moisture in distributor , cap, on wires, etc. Get out mama's hair dryer.

Heat or not, in my life, I have found the old saying, "you can seal water in but you can't seal it out" to be incredibly true. Take the cap off and dry it out and just as important be SURE you get the coils pig tail aligned properly if you disturb the coil. Open or short at the junction are so very common.

I will give that a try tomorrow. I will pull out the coil and distributor and see what I find. Any way to bench test the points?

Battery and any auto bulb, headlight, tail light, stop light, etc.

or test the whole thing on the bench. Be sure to rotate same direction as when installed.

Go ahead and install cap & rotor & 4 plugs to test end to end.

Ditto what jmor said. if water boiled out you may have moisture or oils int he distrib.. clean with brake cleaner.

Also.. don't overfill the radiator.. only fill to cover the coils.. don't fill the tank to the top.

Ok here is what I know now. I am too confused to follow the diagram. Using my meter, I have 6 volts to the top of the coil with the ignition switch on.
I took Distributor cap off and had someone crank it over and there was no spark across the points.

When I put the meter on top of the coil and crank it, the voltage sways all over the place from way low to overload. Is there a way to test just the coil. It is new but the way things are made now makes me wonder.

Thanks
