2N steering

My 2n has some serious issues with steering. My front wheels are way out of adjustment. Front right pointing to the right front left pointing left. Removed the tie rods from the front and lifted wheels off ground. Looks like I about 2.5" of adjustment is needed on the left side but the tie rod is already adjusted in completely. I dont know what to look for now.

I think that 2N has a pinch bolt at the top of the spindle shaft, that has probably slipped.

That is a wild arse guess...

My other guess would be trouble in the steering box.

probably your steering sector gears have jumped a tooth or two, might have to take the steering column off and take a look at them. Do you have an FO-4 manual, it outlines how the steering works.

Per FO4- To synchronize steering sectors - Jack up front wheels. Move left arm rearward as far as possable, and right arm in the opposite direction to unmesh gears. Re-engage both sectors with steering shaft pinion and check synchronism. ( The manual is a little different, this worked for me.) You may have to do this a few times.
These rack and pinion gears DO wear out! If this continue to happen you need new gears, not cheap. joe

Tried to resynch my sterring and it seemed to help a little but not enough. Happened to be at a yard sale and found some extra parts for $15 got 2 rear fenders, a front rim and tire and both tie rods, I ended up cutting the spare tie rod down about 2.5 inches and welded it back together. Now my tires are straight and I have adjustment in both directions. Still have the original parts to use when I break down and rebuild the tractor. Plan on doing that when my son gets a bit olded. Cool father son project. Thanks for all the help.
