2n, sure seals or not?

I have the rear axles out of my 2n to repair the leaking seals and also removed the axle collar and bearing to replace the bearings. Should just replace the original seal and put it back together or should I pack it with grease and install sure seals too.

Here is one opinion:: Since you have got to the point you are and the hard stuff is done, I'd replace with the original seals, then later if you or your Grandkids have problems then maybe do the easy fix with Sure seals.....some will argue with this statement but"sure seals are good". My Dad has had em on his 2N for 45+ yrs.Used heavy on 20+ acres.never a leak. Only thing with SS as you know..the bearings no longer get lubed, they just depend on the grease U stuff in them when U install the Sure seals--all kinds of grease dries out so with Sure seals, you would really need to replace the S Seals and repack the bearings every few yrs--depending on use.. Just my opinion-U will see others..Note: I also have Sure seals on my 2N(since 2004)--no leaks but it never gets used..

Look at your axle. Is there wear on the surface where the SS seal will ride? If yes, you'll need to clean this up. Emory paper will help.

FWIW...did this a few years back. I put SS's on.

I did it on my 46 2N...used the 3" PVC pipe to install.

Your issue is the original seals are leaking,,, replace them are you will always have a leak and unprotected bearings,,, back it up whit SS... SS are nuttin more than a dam to keep lube away from the bearing.. Nuttin sure about them...
