i cleaned gas tank, and mounted the sediment bowl which belongs to the tractor ( had elbows and was sitting on top of oil filter) and a new carb. I also put in new spark plugs and she fired up this is still a 6 volt system by the way but it didn"t seem like it had a lot of RPM what is the way i can tell if it is full throttle or if it does need to be adjusted. a sheet came with the carb of where the usual settings are for mixture and idle and so on. there was no black smoke out of exhaust and it didn"t smell gassy either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. How much throttle RPM is it supposed to have is the bottom line question and how to know how many RPM the motor is running.

Max RPM's for that tractor is 2000 rpm's. How do you know? I'm not sure - just a feeling and listning. How does the engine repond when you open the carb by pulling the linkage between the gov and the carb? Does the gov fight back? Is the gov spring adjusted correctly? Should not be any preload or slack.

Duramax RPMs are 2200 @ wide open throttle with no load.800 RPMs at the PTO shaft wide open throttle, checked with a hand held tach.If your tractor has a Sherman, it has to be in direct when checking RPMs at the PTO.

when throttle is pulled to full there is no hesitation and runs good i just wanted to know how to tell if you are running full RPM or not i dont have a hand held device to tell me which is my down fall but they say by listening i guess i will try to find a 2 bottom plow and put it in the ground and see how she pulls it i guess. thought there would be more help on this but must be too complicated not having the right tools.
