hello I just bought A 2n s/n 9n232536 is this A 1946 2N the guy I bought it from said it was 42 thanks. saddltramp.

Yep---at least the engine came from a 1946.

The engines are easily interchangable between model years; it could very well be a 1942 2N w/ a 1946 engine.

Tramp.......while it could be a 46'engine transplant into a 42'tractor. I doubt it. More'n'likely, the previous owner didn't know. And seriously, it don't matter unless yer a sphincterly challenged originality inspector. The parts are the same. And yes, ALL weakly handstamped 2N-engine serial numbers start with 9N. .......respectfully, Dell
