3 HP John Deere Engine

Hi, Got my engine starting and running but cant controle the speed. Turned the controle button both ways but it wants to jump out of the shop takeing the table I have it bolted to with it. The manual says turn the speed nut but they dont tell you which way. Could someone give me a little advise? Thankyou ----------Harold

If the governor is working, you would turn the nut CCW to lessen pull on the governor spring and slow it to slow down.

The governor may be stuck or broken, or the linkage/latch mechanism may be goofed up.

To check things out/set up the governor, you need a manual. There's typically a couple on ebay, or hit and miss enterprises has reprints.

Thanks Bob,The nut is turned cw as far as it can go, I will start backing it off a little at a time. I hope I dont have to mess with the governor because I am out to lunch there. Thanks again --------HAROLD
