3 point hitch attachment for backhoe

I have an older Ford tractor with a backhoe and loader. It is an industrial type tractor so the 3 point hitch doesn"t have a lifting mechanism, I guess that is the right word.

I have a 3 point hitch turn plow that I would like to use for my garden and I"m trying to come up with a way to attach it in place of the bucket. Do they make any such thing or any ideas? Google has failed me on this one.

If older you mean pre 1964? You will need a complete top cover, pump, manifold and all the 3pt arms. Might be best to find some one parting out a tractor.
This is the only way I know of. No matter how you attach the plow to your backhoe bucket I don't think it will work.
You can add a 3pt system and leave the backhoe on when you don't need the 3pt and take the backhoe off when you need the 3pt.

It is a 70's model, I think, it's a 420. I haven't had it long and can't find the numbers to verify the year. It is a dedicated backhoe, no PTO shaft.

It would be a PITA to remove the backhoe and expensive to buy the parts just to use the plow.

I have used the plow on my AC-CA after doing a little adapting. But I can't go very deep, it starts spinning the tires. I really need to break up the hard-pan at about 2'.

I might just try adding more weight to my AC.

Something just dawned on me as I'm typing this, I replaced one rear tire on the AC and had a tube put in the other one. I never replaced the water/antifreeze in the tires! DUH!

I'm old and brain dead!

Thanks!

Sounds like you would be better off to find a tractor with 3pt, ballasted or whatever means can be done for improving traction, or use a single bottom, I have a single and 2 bottom, sometimes the single is the one I need to use. With hard pan, you may need to wait until that soil is real dry, then use a subsoiler/ripper to fracture it, plants will appreciate that. Be absolutely sure there is NO underground utilities before doing this, and or plowing, which won't be as deep, but, its good practice, hook onto something with a subsoiler, it may be regretful or worse LOL ! One call or call before you dig, if there is any doubt at all.

I agree with Billy. Looks around for a 8N in good condition - they were made for plowing. A 12" or 14" two bottom plow will more than take care of your garden or food plot. Don't think there is anyway you can use your industrial for plowing.

ted for what its going to cost to convert that industrial to a 3 point lift, not the mention the major pia to take the backhoe on and off, it would be cheaper and easier to just buy a good used tractor from the 50's or early 60's to use the plow on
