3 point issue

Greetings All,
My 1955 860 will not lift the 3 point in the cold. If I put it in the heated shop it works fine. I drained a bit of fluid from the housing to confirm I don't have moisture in it. The oil is clean and clear. Would I benifit from putting a heat tape on the housing to warm the fluid of just wasting electricity?

Assuming you have the correct hydraulic oil in it, kind of sounds like your hydraulic pump is tired. Try taking a hair dryer and warming up the pump for a couple of minutes before starting the tractor and see if that helps. If it does, you know where the problem is. I had the same issue with my power steering pump, and the hair dryer pointed out where the problem was.
