3 PT Backhoe

53-Ford NAA

New User
Hello ALL,
I am looking at a Grizzly 3 PT Backhoe for my NAA tractor. Anyone use 1 of these on a similar tractor? I am wondering if the weight would be an issue ~1200# i am told. I would add a PTO hydro pump. Also any issues with using it? tipping issues performance issues?

Thanks in advance for any insite into this!!!

Dennis

weight is a problem if you dont have a front end loader to help balance it, but the bigger problem is hydraulics, the naa hydraulic pump will not run the backhoe, i bought a tractor which had a 3pt backhoe on it, with a pto pump, but the supplied pump was not enough either, i had to buy the largest pto pump that northern tool sells, around 600 bucks ,to get satisfactory performance, that being said im used to full grown backhoes and excavators, and the way they work,

weird.

the hoe on my 850 uses a pto pump about the size of a grapefruit... I have to runvthe tractor at IDLE to use the hoe, otherwise it moves so fast it will rock the tractor and shake you to death. Mine is a 6500 woods

yes, no and maybee.

Yes, you can hang a 3pt hoe on your jube. You just need to find one for cat 1 sized tractors.

Yes, it will be darn heavy, and ideally you will have a loader on front to help with this. *

* In addition to the loader on front, your hoe should have outriggers to help with side stability and scooting when you dig. aditionally, it will be a good idea to make a subframe for your hoe to either mount it up with the loader frame, or if you can't do that, at least make the subframe attach to a few spots on the tractor so that the hoe is not just attached to your 2 lower lift pins, and your toplink.

ALSO.. that hoe will tug pretty good on a toplink. Don't let it. it will damage the toplink linkage under the top cover.
What I did on mine was make up a shackel that made the top link connection rigid . so the hoe still connected there with a pin, but the shackel made it attach to the subframe parts I built. I grabbed subframe attach points at the under axle fender bolt areas, along with some axle trumpet bolts, and bolts alongside the top cover.. just anything I could use to spread out the stresses.. I made some angle stabilizers too.

With my subframe, the tractor 3pt is no longer used, and the hyds don't support the hoe. it sets in a fixed position.

Your jube is same approx size category as my 850.. so you could mount a suitable one up, if you take into acount the things I have mentioned.

Mine runs on a pto pump.
