300 Utility axle

axle is coming out of tractor. How do I get it back in.

Usually nuts and bolts-- seriously what part and where? The tubes are usually rusted solid. The mid point has a ball on stud that is bolted into a three cornered bracket that holds the back. The front has a
pin and saddle arraignment that is held up with four bolts that you can reach from underneath. Oh if you are under it please use stands or blocking. picture if possible would help. I have had mine off three times now.

If the rear there might be a bolt in the axle in the center inside holding the bull gear on. More difficult that is.

If not a high utility and rear axle a bolt and washer is inside the rear housing on end of axle. But if outer axle bearing and retaining flange with 4 bolts is okay it shouldn't come out very much. You may have a problem at both ends of axle. If just the flange wheel bolts to is moving. it has a washer and bolt also.

Hello Dick welcome to YT! I the linked factory parts
diagram click Chassis, then any subsection that opens. This opens the Chassis subsection preview boxes. In subsection 263 number 21 is the inside bolt that is
mentioned. That holds the bull gear on which keeps
the axle held inside the inner bearing properly. Subsections 264 shows the axle assembly. If the axle has came out 3 inches or more the bull gear has came off the splined inner end of the axle, off course this would mean it will no longer move under its own power. The PTO assembly can be pulled out and the bolt put back in and tightened somewhat easily if it is still moving itself. Here are a few additional tips on using the CNHI online pars catalog on a phone if that is how you happen to be viewing this.
The following does not apply to viewing on a PC. Since the CNHI parts site was reconfigured in early 2022 I have found that when viewing on my iPhone expanding the diagram in the box is much clearer. This is the ..preview.. box you see before you go into the actual subsection that gives the diagram and the parts list. Also holding your phone side ways lets you see more of the site navigation links at the top by the ..Home.. button. I also notice that instead of going back one page, it skips back two instead, fairly frustrating. I do not know if this applies to Android phones.

Way outer axle bearing is mounted if axle came out more than 1/2 inch you need to check it. Bearing has a little room to slide on axle then shaft is bigger. Way to install in tractor is to mount in bull gear then clamp bull gear to inner axle bearing. Then slide outer bearing on in axle housing until it seats fully. Then install bearing cap to axle housing. If outer bearing and cap does its job the axle can't move out much. Still can be a problem with inner bearing or axle retaining bolt.
