300 utility hydraulic valve

Hey guys, I need to replace the o-rings in the control shaft on the valve, how do I get it apart to change them ? leaks and makes a mess on the foot rest.

You will have to take the valve out of the tractor to replace the internal O rings. It would be a good idea to check the garter spring in the valve while you have it out to make sure it is not broken. This spring centers the control valve when it is in the released position so the spool valve doesn't move off center and allow oil past it. Both of mine were broke in my 300. Problem is to put it back, there is a special tool needed to install it. I made one out of a dowel rod. It looks like a nose cone on one end and on the other end is a recessed nose cone. I used a dermel tool to remove the wood for the recessed part and a drill press for the nose cone part.

Thanks, I've got both valves on the bench, just didn't know what I had to do to get the shaft out, the hydraulics work pretty good, but I'll check it all out.

I had a service manual to follow. Most from what I can remember were held together by snap rings. Highly recommend getting service manual info to do this job!
