3000 back seat bolt

Just got a 3000. the back bolt that holds the seat was brock off. Got it out and there is a pin on the end of the threaded part. What does that pin do? What would happen if I just used a bolt without the pin?

That pin is the forward anchor for the draft spring plunger rod. Below is a link to the parts drawing for the hydraulic top cover. The pin is number 11 and the draft control plunger rod is part 47.

So without it there would be no draft control?

It is there to prevent the plunger from turning, especially when you adjust the spring tension.
