3000 clutch problems

First thanks to UltradogMN, Tree man and 3000OH for your help when I posted 3000 Running Rough. A combination of plugs, points and coil fixed the problem. I ran it about 30 minutes before it started raining. Now another problem cropped up. My clutch won’t engage. Whatever gear it is in it stays in. I tried to adjust the linkage but that didn’t help. This tractor sat for about a year and wasn’t having this problem before. Any suggestions?

Are you saying that the transmission won't shift gears or the tractor won't move when you let the clutch pedal up?

sounds like your saying the clutch is not dis engaging.. so it runs in gear even when the clutch is pushed in??

if so you have the clutch plate stuck to the flywheel.


you can pull it with the tractor is high gear and high range with the clutch pedel being held in... then keep stomping on the brakes while holding the clutch pedel in.. it will finnally break loose.

The tractor would stay in gear and not stop when the clutch was pressed. I worked with this afternoon and it is working great now. Sorry for not making myself clear.Thanks for the responses.
