3000 diesel serial numbers / frame type

I found a Westendorf WL-21 loader that I think will work on my Ford 3000. Specs say it'll fit a 3000 with a "type 3" frame. So, I start trying to find serial numbers to decipher and I've come up with the numbers below. I've looked at a couple web pages that are supposed to define and explain these numbers but none seem to match.

Can anyone tell me (1) if the frame type is buried in any of these numbers (2) what the rest of the numbers mean and (3) if the frame type is not in these numbers where might I find it?

Frame type, in reguards to Westendorf loaders, is simply a number assigned by Westendorf to the different types of frames used on various models of Fords.
If your 3000 looks like the one in this picture, it's a normal 3000, which is Westendorf's "type 3 frame". (front bumper is not part of the frame, and will likely have to come off, if your's has one)

a 3000 post 68 might have a numbe rlike this:

C1013C ( 3000, ag shassie, diesel, live 8spd pto )

If it is pre68, ist letter will be a number 3. not a 'C'

date code will be a number, a letter, a single or double digit number, and another letter a-b-c..e tc.

then a serieal number.. might start with a C.. or a B

This link, if it works, should take you to Westendorf's page with Ford frame styles. My 5000 row crop is a type 1, my 4600 is a type 2B, my 7000 and 7600 are type 2A's, and your 3000 and my neighbors 4000SU are type 3's.

Yep, type 3. Looks to be an English 3000, judging by the grill and fenders. Serial number would start with a "B", I think. You'll probably want to move the wheels out wider for more stability with the loader on... may even have to, to mount it (not sure on that).

No idea what one of those will cost, but my TA26 listed for $5400 earlier this year. Very happy with it so far.

That's a fine looking Ford.
It's been earning it's keep all these years and probably will do so for a few more.
I agree the grill and fenders are English.
Looks like a Narrow tractor. Any chance you could get a measurement from brake drum to brake drum?
Ford made them in three widths; Ag, Narrow and Vineyard.

Yeah it"s narrow, I got it from a nursery. What does "English" mean? I"ve got a hydraulic leak so I"m guessing English means parts are big $$$.

Not sure what the measurements are. Plan to leave it skinny to get around the trees on my property if the loader will fit that way.

The model, serial and date codes should be on a horizontal flat spot aft of the starter. These numbers are stamped into the casting rather than a raised engineering/casting number.
You appear to have the serial number already which is A126-872. This indicates that it was assembled at Antwerep, Belgium. There is one date code among your numbers (6A24) which would indicate an assembly date of 24th January, 1966 for whatever component you took that number from.... or if it was aft of the starter, then that is the date of final assembly.
You should find out if you have a narow or orchard model since that will probably make a big difference when you go looking for loader mounts. The frames generally have to mount to the rear axle, and if the axle is narrowed, a standard frame may not meet up to the axle mounting points correctly.
Honestly I'd not want a loader on a 3000 because of the light front end and lack of weight in the rear end... but the lack of rear weight can be remidied with counterweight to some degree, and go with the lightest loader you can find.

"English" just refers to where it was built - A codes were built in Antwerp, B codes in Basildon. English models have different fenders, grills, and lights, but parts are interchangable between English and American models, with the exception of some of the electricals. Shouldn't be much if any difference in price of parts. I hadn't thought about the orchard and vineyard models... just thought it was a standard ag model set narrow.

I don't think it's a vinyard model. Pretty sure the rear tires are just set in.
